Clutch Index
How much a player over-performs their baseline in high-pressure moments.
Formula
Pressure window = 75th minute onwards, score within one goal. We multiply expected goal contributions in that window by the player's season-wide rate. A value of 1.0 means they produce at the same rate under pressure; 2.0+ is elite.
How to read the number
What it's good for
- Identify match-deciders before the market does
- Sniff out fantasy picks who deliver when it matters
- Compare 'big-game' players with hard numbers, not vibes
Real-world example
Haaland 2025-26 season: CI = 2.87 — baseline xG/90 of 0.94, pressure xG/90 of 2.68.
